In a time of social distancing, it’s hard to remember that you’re a part of someone else’s life, but Luke Mock is here to remind you that you’re in his universe.

A pop singer-songwriter, Luke is working to inspire others while exploring his own emotions through music. “It takes just one to inspire millions,” Luke says. “All you must do
is find what you love in your heart and open it to the world.”

The eighteen-year-old hails from Auburn, New York and has been putting what he loves out into the world during his performances at Winterfest, Oneonta’s O-Chella, and Social Distancing Sessions on YouTube.

Luke Mock recently performed during a Social Distancing Session on YouTube.

Luke’s latest release, “Universe” drops today (June 12, 2020), and showcases his belief in exploring his own emotions through song.

The track begins with twinkling acoustic guitar that backs Luke’s angelic vocals. The simple, clean instrumentals—including the bit of bass highlighted in the background at the minute mark—help Luke create an atmosphere of emotion with skillful inflection as his rises and falls with the music. Perfect for fans of Shawn Mendes, “Universe” is sweetly sad, yet hopeful in its delivery.

The lyrics of “Universe” tell a story. Written to a loved one, the song reads as a love letter that reassures its recipient that the speaker cares for them greatly in the chorus: “You’re the center of my universe / She’s in our orbit but I had you first / You pulled me in and now I can’t escape / So why is she invading our space.”

The verses build upon the chorus, adding detail and depth to the storyline: “Out here, in the dark / Where our love’s a shining star / That explodes and falls apart / Because you had a change of heart / You pushed me out, we lost our spark / We come back in, where do we start?” Thanks to the verses’ expansion, listeners learn more about the story with each stanza. “Universe” is more than just a love song: It’s a story of the multiple components in relationship.

Luke is excited to be working on new music for his upcoming releases, including his first full EP. In this difficult time of physical separation, Luke wants fans to never forget that someone will always be there for them: “When you fall asleep tonight, just remember that we lay under the same stars.”
