So much has changed since I began writing music reviews on this blog during college! For the sake of brevity, here’s a list of what I’ve been up to for the past two years:
- I attended (and graduated from) The New School , spending countless hours writing and reading and making lifelong friends while earning my MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults! I finished my thesis project, a middle grade book called Camp Caltrop, and have started submitting it to agents. Cross your fingers for me!
- I had the pleasure of working with an amazing group of public relations experts at Red Banyan–I can’t say enough about how grateful I am to each and every one of my coworkers for their support in and out of the (virtual) office over the past two years.
- I realized that, as much as I’ve loved exploring different career paths, writing is truly what I want to do. And now is the time to let myself try. In other words, I have officially made the transition from being a PR professional and writing student to being a full-time writer! (who will probably also get a part time job along the way, eventually–no starving artists here!)
Surprise? Or Destiny…
Cheesy, I know. For me, it was a mix of both. It was a surprise to realize that I feel ready to push myself in my writing, to take a chance for once instead of only pursuing stability in life. But at the same time, I’ve always known that, deep down, nothing else could compare to being able to devote each and every day to the one thing I’ve always loved: books!
With this announcement, I’m also excited to share that I’ll be more active on my blog, social media, and website in general–being a writer is much more than just creating books. I hope you’ll stick around to join me as I enter this exciting new chapter of my life. 🙂
