Today’s Advent Calendar feature is Rusted Hearts! The Cleveland, Ohio-based band is made up of Patrick Farmer of Dead Leaves and Michael Taddeo of Motives as well as Nate Gliebe and Christian DeLaat. The original members’ journey began in high school during an Xbox Live chatroom, which then “turned into an exchange of music suggestions when Pat and Mike realized their mutual appreciation for local band Light Years.” After the pair began exploring musical styles, Rusted Hearts was born in 2019 with the goal of starting a new creative endeavor focused on “journal-style honesty and eclectic musical inspirations boundless of genre.”
Since the release of their first EP, Return Home, the band has played shows with Better Off, Overgrow, Better Love, and Signals Midwest. The addition of Nate Gliebe and Christian DeLaat finalized the group’s lineup.
Rusted Hearts recently released the second EP, Waiting Room, in their storyline trilogy of releases. Described as “an exploration into the overwhelming limbo of loss,” the EP examines the intangible “mental waiting room” of grief.

In 2020, Rusted Hearts has continued their work on new music while preparing to release the final chapter of their trilogy with an EP due in early 2021.
