Hi, everyone! If you’re reading this, it likely means that you’re a subscriber (or at least a regular) to my blog. First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this boring post as well as all of the (hopefully!) fun music reviews and other content. This post is sort of a housekeeping announcement for the month of October, when my posting schedule will be slightly altered.
As some of you may know, I’m currently a full-time college student as well as a music writer. I spend most of my time creating content for my blog or doing schoolwork, which doesn’t leave many hours of creativity for my other endeavors. I wouldn’t change what I do for the world, but I would add hours to the day if I could!
That being said, the month of October is going to look a little different. While I typically post every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I will be switching to a temporary Mondays-only model, with publication dates falling on 10/7/19, 10/14/19, 10/21/19, 10/28/19, and a bonus 10/31/19. The content I publish will likely be about the same as usual, with a mix of music reviews, lists, and some random Op-Eds or Lush reviews thrown in there.
The reasoning behind this is complicated, but basically centers around the need for time to be devoted to housekeeping for the blog’s longevity and my other career goals. During October, I will be taking the time to overhaul my plans for 2020, which include increased submission prices, higher-caliber reviews, and some content from select mainstream artists. To set this up, I will need time. This time will be split between improving the blog, attempting to do as many projects as possible early, and also finding myself a literary agent.
For my non-writer friends: Finding an agent is like a part-time job in itself. Querying is draining emotionally and creatively, and I plan on taking the time to do it the right way in order to give my manuscript a fighting chance. It is my absolute dream to be able to return to you in November as a represented writer, and I’m going to be working hard over the next month to make that happen!
Thank you so much for being understanding. I know the reduced number of music review slots will likely be tough, but I will be accepting submissions for November reviews early to compensate for this. To my readers: Thank you so much for visiting my blog every week! Please stay tuned for improved content very soon!
Thanks for reading,
Alexa O’kane
