Happy Friday! I know I’ve been quiet lately, but I have a good reason: I’ve been hard at work on a very special project. Now, I’m beyond excited to formally announce the upcoming publication of my debut poetry collection, Troubles!
On May 5th, my Champlain College Capstone project will culminate with the release of Troubles: a full-length nonfiction poetry book that tells the story of a child who grew up in war-torn Ireland; of a musician who defied the odds to migrate to the United States with only $50 and a guitar to his name; of a man who braved the bridges of New York City and the collapse of the Twin Towers. The poems of Troubles explore a daughter’s interpretations of her father’s stories from a life that has been anything but ordinary: This is the life of Patrick O’Kane.
Publishing a book has always been one of my biggest goals in life, but I never imagined I would have the chance to share such important stories with the world. I’m honored to have been trusted with my dad’s memories, and I hope you’ll join me in celebrating not only my own hard work, but the amazing life my father has lived so far. He is just as excited as I am to share it all with you!
In the coming weeks, I have a variety of fun events planned, including an Instagram takeover on For the Punks’ account, a giveaway, poetry readings, and more! You can also check out the transmedia project that inspired it all here!
Let me know what you think in the comments! I can’t wait to share the rest of the poems with you. In the meantime, feel free to add Troubles on Goodreads, follow me on Instagram to stay updated on giveaways and special events, and keep a lookout for information on special pre-order editions coming soon!
