“Breakups Suck” by TLB
Today’s Advent Calendar feature is TLB! Born out of a breakup, the punk band “has been bringing ‘Fuck You’ and ‘I Still Love You’ together to mend your broken hearts since 2013.” Influenced by punk classics like those of the Ramones, TLB members Darren Vorel, Eric Vorel, and Tom Higgenson have performed at venues including the SXSW festival and the infamous 9:30 Club in DC. Their self-titled debut album was rated “two middle fingers up,” and their latest record, Blood + Sand, debuted on Halloween 2020, giving listeners a 10-track album with blended themes of “unrequited love and downright resentment.”
TLB’s tracks like “Breakups Suck,” “Till Death Do Us Party,” and “BS I Love You” bring the punk vibes of the past into the 21st century, giving fans “songs to rock out to while you mentally curse out your ex.” After all, it’s “a universal truth: everyone has experienced a broken heart.”
