Wait for me, wait for me / I am caught in the middle of thee / Wait for me, wait for me, please / Wait for me, wait for me, Lord / I can’t catch up, cause I don’t know what you see /I speak of love / And I feel in the middle of thee / I am caught in the middle of thee.”
“Caught in the Middle of Thee” by Valeska Rautenberg
Today’s Advent Calendar feature is Valeska Rautenberg! A singer, composer, and producer, Valeska was born in East Berlin to celebrated actor Klaus-Peter Thiele and painter Rosemarie Rautenberg. Although she grew up in a creative household and began her career as an actress early in life, it wasn’t until her teenage years that Valeska found her true calling in music.
Valeska’s latest release, “Caught in the Middle of Thee” was released on October 19, 2020, soon joined by a remix by German ambient/downbeat artists Thomas Lemmer and Andreas Bach on November 2, 2020. To Valeska, the track “is pure feeling. It doesn’t need many words or instruments, and conveys its meaning solely with the voice.” The “(almost) acapella song [ventures] into the realm of ambient and gospel-inspired ethereal sound atmospheres” as it takes on the feelings of life’s biggest questions, including the existence of god, the meaning of existence, and the question of the self.
In the near future, Valeska plans to release four new EPs that correspond to the four elements” Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, and Air.
